.asx is a metafile which has a primary goal of creating and storing playlists for Windows Media files which would be prepared for a presentation. Possible problems with the ASX file

Manual entry of the file type to the Windows Registry

Before you make any manual changes to the Windows Registry, make its copy earlier. With manual operations it is not difficult to make a mistake, and the changes are irreversible. How to do this?
Most of the items on the registry concerning the ASX file are added automatically during installation of the program/application. In some situations, the user himself has to create a new registry entry, and type in the appropriate value. This method can be used to associate a file type with an existing application.
